Spartans go kayaking, then assist with a family reunion at South Bay Yacht Club

Leader: Lisa Bickford & Dean McCully

atch the first Ship 300 Flag eremonyFirs

Paddling with young people from a family reunion at the yacht club.

First Nathan spent at least 5 or 6 weeks mowing the incredible mountain of weeds in the SBYC fields.  That and repairing the rotten docks.

With the help of Samuel Leyva, who chopped more weeds than are in the Amazon Rainforest!

Yeahhhh, the docks are now usable!

The temporary PVC launch ramp works great, even at super-low tide!  It was about 0.5ft or so in this picture quite low.

Lisa in her fast kayak, and Nathan on his fast raft!

The crew is ready to depart.

And now comes the kids, who love our new TRIPLE sit-on-top kayaks!

Nathan on safety boating standby

Launching galore!
Everybody in PFDs of course!

Racing around the slough in boats!  There's nothing better!

More and more kids showed up to kayak.
A bunch of adults kayaked too!

Break time.

Ever vigilant Nathan mans his safety raft.
Two motors 3 batteries, he's the tow truck of the slough!

IN FACT Nathan towed a couple who had drifted down from the Marina in a rubber raft.  WAY TO GO NATHAN! He got them back to the Marina just fine!

One of the old silted-in boat slips still holds water at high tide.

Ken Tompkins shows up with his motor boat and gave rides.  THANKS KEN!

Samuel takes kids kayaking in his kayak

Nathan takes a break and has some BBQed ribs.  Yum!  Way to go, Nathan!  Your safety boating actually rescued 3 stranded boaters in the blown-away raft (they weren't in our party but Nathan rescued them anyway....)

Meanwhile back at the clubhouse -
the party rages as a toddler grabs
the microphone and starts
belting out the tunes...
Or screaming real loud....

Special thanks to the everybody who pitched in to make this
such an awesome event for our guests at SBYC.
